Grants, scholarships and awards – open to ALL GFWC Florida clubs and given by Junior Women’s Clubs

2020 Mary Ann Taylor Child Advocacy Award – This award is given annually in honor of Mary Ann Taylor, a GFWC Florida clubwoman who realized that everyone has a part in the lives of our children. Nominees for this award will be an active member in good standing of a GFWC Florida Juniorette, Junior or Woman’s club. The award recipient is chosen from the nominations sent in by either a GFWC Florida Juniorette, Junior or Woman’s club. A financial award and trophy will be presented to a U.S. Child Advocacy program in honor of the winner. The recipient will be announced at GFWC Florida Convention.

2020 One Voice for Children Grant – The objective of GFWC Florida Juniors’ Special Program, “One Voice for Children”, is to encourage members and others to become active advocates for children by working to protect children from harmful situations; encourage healthy lifestyles; and prevent substance abuse and youth suicide. Clubs seeking financial support for a project that advocates for children may apply for this award.

Deadline: February 1, 2021

2020 Youth Leadership Award – Youth may be male or female and must be a current high school senior. Projects, service, and accomplishments must demonstrate leadership skills and can be drawn from throughout the student’s high school career. Each applicant must be endorsed by a GFWC Florida club, not by an individual.  Each club may only endorse one nominee.

GFWC Florida Interaction Awards

GFWC Florida gives three annual awards designed to recognize and celebrate interaction among clubwomen.

The Judy Lutz Junior and Woman’s Club Federation Interaction award is presented to a General Woman’s Club and a Junior Club who have worked together to serve the community and member interests, and to further the objective of federation interaction. It was established in 1984 in honor of Judy Lutz for her outstanding leadership in uniting the clubs of Florida.

The Joyce Johnston Junior to Juniorette award recognizes outstanding federation interaction between a Junior and Juniorette club. Joyce Johnston’s commitment to the fostering of a relationship between Junior and Juniorette clubs was the basis for this award.

The Teddy Hulse Junior to Junior award is presented for outstanding interaction between Junior clubs who have worked together to serve the communities and members’ interests, and to further the objective of federation interaction. It was established in the 1992-94 administration, and renamed in 1998 in honor of Teddy Hulse GFWC Florida Director of Junior Clubs, to recognize the cooperative efforts of support for one another whether in a district, state, or other Junior club in the United States.

Awards and Scholarships open to GFWC Florida Junior Clubs and Junior Clubwomen

GFWC Florida invites junior clubs and junior clubwomen to apply for four annual awards and scholarships.

Charlotte Meeds Smith Volunteer of the Year Award – recognizes one outstanding Junior clubwoman who has given unselfishly of her time and energy for worthwhile causes, to help others, and to make this world a better place.  Please submit only one nomination per club per year.

Gail Hill Smith Marketing Award – recognizes the junior woman’s club with the most unique, most expansive or most rewarding public relations for a project or program.

Jennie June Education Scholarship – is given to a Junior club member to assist in her educational financial needs.

Nancy Crawford Leadership Award – recognizes one outstanding Junior clubwoman who has grown and developed as an individual, led others, and helped nurture leadership qualities in others.

GFWC Florida Scholarships

GFWC Florida awards two $3,000 scholarships annually for women returning to college who need financial assistance for education to achieve their goal of gaining employment and becoming self-sufficient.  Applicants must be Florida residents and attend an accredited Florida public college, university or technical school as a full-time student.  Applications are open to the public.
