Quilts made by the GFWC Greater West Palm Beach Women's Club made for the women patients at the Veteran's Medical Center in Palm Beach County. Club members had a workshop to make the quilts. At a separate workshop, members made 14 centerpieces for the tables at the Veteran's Medical Center for the Fourth of July. The club also donated three boxes of personal hygiene items to use in the community living center and the homeless shelter at the Center.

The GFWC North Pinellas Woman's Club celebrated their 7th Anniversary on July 10th with dinner and dancing at a local country club. All the past presidents and the current president wore a sash with their year on it. One past president could not attend so she was made into a "Flat Sandy" complete with sash.

Jane Hussar received her 30 year pin and was honored with a poem and flowers for her many years of service. Jane started as a Juniorette with the Palmetto Little Women in 1968-1970. She later joined the GFWC Clearwater Junior Woman's Club and served as President in 1991. In 2003 she was one of the founders of the GFWC North Pinellas Woman's Club and its first president.

Club Project

The Arts Department of the GFWC Gulf Coast Woman’s Club assisted the 7th and 8th grade students at Merritt Brown School with having a Coffee House Program on Thursday Morning May 20, at Deer Point School. Merritt Brown students are attending the new Deer Point School due to repair work being done on their school. The students had the opportunity to go on stage with a microphone to share the poems and stories they had written with other students, teachers and Woman’s Club members. The Arts Department decorated the library with Lava Lamps, stage and mike, and served cookies and tea to all who participated.

District 13 Holds Spring Workshop

New District 13 Director Darlene Vlazny welcomed 55 members from 10 Clubs who attended the District 13 Spring Workshop on Saturday, May 22 at Volunteer Park in Plantation.  Everyone agreed that it was fun, informative and humorous!

Hostess club, the Plantation Acres Woman's Club, served an elegant brunch, complete with Mimosas & strawberries!

Eight  baskets, one gift card and one donation in lieu of a basket were contributed by 10 clubs for the raffle - a huge success!

GFWC Florida President, Teddy Hulse was the speaker.  She presented a  mini-"leads" (leadership) program which will surely help us all with our respective Clubs.  Some new info - and some reinforcement of things we know - but don't always do!  She explained that "Departments" are now "Community Service Programs" and "International Outreach" and "Public Issues" have replaced the previous names.    The explanation of the President's Project (Membership) to ensure the financial stability and future of our Clubs, District and GFWC Florida has taken on a life of its own and is being perpetuated as:  "Change or Die"!

Presidents from each club had 3 minutes to tell about their recent activites.
