Underwire, soft cup, minimizer, Wonderbra, Playtex, Victoria’s Secret and on and on and on!!!  As women, we face the dilemma every day of what style to wear, what size, what color or what brand.  As we are all too aware of, there are many of our fellow members who may not have any of these choices to make.  We have all been affected by breast cancer.

To keep breast cancer awareness in the forefront, we have decided to present a project that we feel will do just that.  It is called……….

The Artful Bra

At Spring Convention in April, 2010 all members may enter a bra.  It must be size 36C, and must be decorated outside as well as inside including the straps.  This is not to be entered in your club or district arts and crafts competition.  Bring your bra to be registered and judged to the designated location.  After they have been judged, you may pick them up or allow us to keep them for the traveling exhibit.  All the bras will be sewn onto padded hangers, which we will supply if they are going “on tour”.  Needless to say, we hope you will allow us to keep them.

Signature Blocks

 for Breast Cancer Remembrance

Quilt Blocks for dedication and remembrance will be available at the Artful Bra Exhibit GFWC/Florida Federation of Women’s Club Convention on, April 9-12, 2010.

The personalized quilt blocks are for the purpose of recognizing those loved ones which have had, have cancer, or passed away with Breast Cancer. The purpose of this project is to bring awareness to the forefront of Breast Cancer and to honor a family member or friend. A ten dollar donation is required for each block.

The Blocks will be made into Two Wall Hangings by the generosity of Clermont Woman’s Club quilters, District 7.

At the conclusion of the Artful Bra Project/Breast Cancer Awareness Project, in 2012, the proceeds collected from all the fundraisers of these two projects will be presented to Breast Cancer Research.....

Please participate in this worthy cause. Come to the Artful Bra Exhibit at Convention and sign your block to honor that special someone in your life.

We thank you, in advance, for your participation.

Why Florida Needs Protections for Victims of Domestic, Dating, Repeat and Sexual Violence in Residential Lease Agreements.

Early Learning initiatives are critical for our future.  85% of the hard-wiring in the brain happens by the age of three.  Ensuring our state’s children are ready to learn and be successful in school sets our state up for success.

Tap Project 2010 -    Restaurants across the country will participate in the UNICEF Tap Project during World Water Week 2010 (March 21-27).  Dining at one of these restaurants and donating $1.00 for tap water you would normally receive for free is a great way to help UNICEF provide lifesaving water to kids around the world.  Sign up as a volunteer now and encourage restaurants to sign up to participate at www.tapproject.org, where you can also make a monetary donation.
