Members who have served in the Armed Forces or otherwise supported troops in uniform
The Saturday night function at the 2010 Fall Board of Director's
Meeting on September 18 will be a tribute to honor all of our club women
who have served in the Armed Forces. If you have ANY club member in
your district who qualifies, we want her to be included in this
tribute. Please forward to Pat
Zazzario her name, rank, branch of military and contact information
( name, telephone number, address and/or e-mail address, club name ) as
soon as possible. (This includes Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast
Guard, Red Cross, USO, Rosie Riviter, any person who supported the
troops in a uniform). We want to invite them to attend this special
event.
This is the second time that we have asked you to provide this
information. However, please check that we have not forgotten any club
members who should be included. And also, please spread the word about
this very special banquet and let's get a really big turn out at Fall
Board to honor these caring and patriotic women who gave so unselfishly
of their time to serve our country. Bud Day, a Congressional Medal of
Honor recipient and husband of Doris Day, GFWC Florida club member from
Ft. Walton Beach will be the honored speaker. (He was imprisoned with
John McCain during the the Vietnam war and will speak of his experiences. )
Sunday Lunch will feature the
Orlando VA
Community Living Center (formerly called the Orlando VA Nursing Home
Care Unit) provides compassionate, person-centered care in a safe and
home-like environment to eligible veterans who require nursing home
level care. The goal of care is to restore function, prevent decline,
maximize independence, and provide comfort when dying. The goals of
care are achieved in an environment where the veteran is respected,
treated with dignity, and invited to be an active participant in his/her
care. Attention is given to making the veteran feel at home. We
emphasize enhancing and supporting the veteran’s quality of life.
